Graded and Ungraded Coins

Collection: Graded and Ungraded Coins

Why Grading Matters:

    • Grading provides collectors and investors with a standardized way to assess a coin’s quality.
    • Higher-graded coins generally command higher prices due to their rarity and condition.
    • Graded coins are securely encapsulated, protecting them from environmental damage.

Remember, each of these grading services has its loyal followers, and debates about which is “best” continue among enthusiasts. If you are new to graded coins, the three most popular grading services: Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), and American Numismatic Association Certification Service (ANACS) offer grading services, and some would say they have their niches.  Ultimately, the choice depends on personal preference and the specific coin being graded. NGC and PCGS have apps that you can use to lookup graded coins using the numbers and barcodes on the capsules, and ANACS has the same service on their website. There you will find grading information, collection information and population/mintage numbers, and even valuation.
